October 2008 Issue of ASCO News & Forum Available Online
The October 2008 ASCO News & Forum, the most recent issue of the Society’s quarterly membership magazine, is now available for online viewing.
The cover story, Integrating Technology, discusses the tools and guidance ASCO has developed to help members best take advantage of available technology for the purposes of improving patient care and streamlining practice efficiency.
ASCO member and recipient of the 2004 Advanced Clinical Research Award (ACRA) Vered Stearns, MD, is highlighted in The ASCO Cancer Foundation column, which discusses the progress of her three-year-funded research in the area of early-stage breast cancer.
The recurring Clinical Practice Guidelines article Clinical Practice Guidelines Ensure Consistent Quality Cancer Care, provides an overview of the most popular and recently-published Guidelines. It also explains how these Guidelines were produced and the ways in which they have lead to improved cancer care.
The JCO series section discusses the Public Access Policy, a recent government mandate issued by the National Institutes of Health, and how a new initiative has been designed to help JCO contributing authors who are affected by this mandate.
Jonathan S. Berek, MD, MMS, ASCO News & Forum Editor, encourages reader feedback about the topics addressed in the magazine. Readers can submit comments online or via e-mail to asconews@asco.org, or by mail or fax to:
