Cancer presents an enormous and growing public health crisis around the world. According to the World Health Organization, more people die of cancer in less developed countries than of HIV/AIDS, malaria, or tuberculosis. To address this complex problem, we need a strong cadre of trained health professionals and consistent and widely available professional education.
The ASCO Cancer Foundation and ASCO share an international mission to exchange knowledge with our members, partners, and the international cancer community in order to improve the care of patients everywhere. We collaborate with organizations around the world to deliver oncology education covering a wide variety of topics, levels of training and specialization, geographic locations and formats (including joint symposia, workshops, multidisciplinary training, and advanced cancer courses). Our fellowship and grant opportunities enable oncologists from opposite ends of the world to share ideas and build lasting collaborations that can improve patient care locally and globally.
A growing number of international communities are reaping the benefits of ASCO's high quality, oncologist-vetted patient information on Cancer.Net. Currently, Cancer.Net offers information in English and Spanish on the most common cancer types. With the support of corporations, foundations, international societies and individuals, The ASCO Cancer Foundation and ASCO hope to present this information in many more languages in the coming years.
